Southwest Development Commission Secures Rail Licence To Connect Six States

The South West Development Commission has secured a provisional Rail Operating and Track Licence from the Nigerian Railway Corporation to develop a regional rail transportation network connecting the six states of Southwest Nigeria. The proposed rail initiative is expected to link Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States through an integrated transportation corridor designed to improve mobility, trade, tourism and economic cooperation across the region. According to emerging details, the project aims to connect 44 cities within the Southwest Refion, marking one of the most ambitious regional transportation plans in Nigeria’s recent history.
