FTAN LANDS IN EKITI-STATE


The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) is the Umbrella body that represents all the private sector in the Tourism and related industry in Nigeria. The Association was established in 1997 by the then Federal Ministry of Commerce and Tourism to facilitate liaison between Government agencies and the organized private sector in the Nigeria's Tourism industry.

The Ekiti-State chapter executive inauguration meeting which was held on 27 July 2020 at the temporary state secretariat, Fabian Country Home Hotel, Ado Ekiti was anchored by the FTAN southwest vice chairman Otunba Ayo Olumoko, who encouraged the new Ekiti-State executive members to be dedicated, hopeful and put their ideas into action for the transformation of the tourism industry in Ekiti-State.

Otunba Olumoko noted that tourism organizations and practitioners in Ekiti-State should continue to be friendly with government agencies. He continued that as every tourism entrepreneurs seek government actions in creating an enabling environment for tourism activities to improve and also seek policy makers attention, it is imminent for tourism professionals to continue to be friendly, even though they've always been friendly and he furher encouraged tourism enterpreneurs to imbibe integrity in the promotion of collaboration and partnership with private investors and not ignoring partnering with national and international research and statistical agencies.



FTAN's certificate of incorporation and constitution was presented to the State Cordinator, Dr Abioye Adedipe, admist Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare, Ekiti-State Commissioner for Arts , Culture and Tourism and Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State on Tourism Development.

   The new State Cordinator, Dr Abioye Adedipe who during his inauguration speech, implored stakeholders and associations to work with a robust synergy and a working relationship with the relevant agencies of the government of Ekiti-State on tourism development, where the interest of the industry will supersede self interests and developing a positive catalist to preach domestic tourism as local tourism advocacy is on the lips of every stakeholder and congratulated the new executive members; Ògbéni Babájídé Fájuyì as State Secretary, Mr Deolu Oyebode as the Membership and Promotions Executive, Kolapo Temitope as an Assistant membership and promotion executive, Madam Busayo Owajoba as the state treasurer, Dr Tosin Tume as the intergovernmental relations officer and Dr Chief Ajayi Oluwole as the state special adviser.
