ÙDÌRÓKÒ ADVENTURE WEEKEND TO BRING THREE-DAY TOURISM EXPERIENCE TO ADO-EKITI
ADO-EKITI, EKITI STATE — As the Ùdìrókò Festival season draws to a close, VisitEkiti Ltd is introducing a three-day adventure and tourism programme designed to give residents, visitors and lovers of nature, culture and exploration a different way to experience Ado-Ekiti.
Tagged “The Ùdìrókò Adventure Weekend,” the programme will run from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23, 2026, combining urban mountain camping, hiking, a mountain Feastival and a curated city tour.
The initiative is being organised as an unofficial finale to the Ùdìrókò Festival, taking the celebration beyond conventional festivities and into the natural, cultural and emerging tourism spaces of Ado-Ekiti.
Mountain Camping Opens the Weekend
The programme begins on Friday, August 21, with an Urban Mountain Camping experience at Olóta Mountain, Ado-Ekiti.
Participants will spend the night in a natural mountain environment, with camping, mountain views, campfire activities, storytelling and social interaction forming part of the experience.
According to the organisers, the camping experience is intended to demonstrate how Ado-Ekiti’s urban mountains and natural landscapes can be developed into attractive recreational and adventure tourism destinations.
The camping package costs ₦25,000 for two people sharing a tent on the mountain.
Hiking and Mountain Feastival
On Saturday, August 22, attention shifts to the Urban Mountain Hiking & Feastival, also at Olóta Mountain.
Participants will meet at Tipper Garage, Ijigbo, Ado-Ekiti, by 8:00 a.m. before embarking on the urban mountain hiking adventure.
The Feastival will feature Ìgbèmò rice served in traditional leaves, fresh palm wine, games, music, storytelling and social activities, creating a distinctive combination of food, culture, nature and adventure.
The programme will combine urban mountain hiking, nature exploration, summit activities, local cuisine, music, storytelling and networking.
The organisers describe the experience as more than an ordinary hike, positioning it as an opportunity to create memorable experiences while showcasing the adventure tourism potential of Ado-Ekiti.
Participation is ₦1,500 per person.
Ado-Ekiti City Tour
The three-day programme will conclude on Sunday, August 23, with an Ado-Ekiti City Tour, beginning at 12:00 midday from the Pavilion, Fajuyi Area, Ado-Ekiti.
The tour is designed to showcase the city’s culture, heritage, agriculture, space science, enterprise and emerging tourism attractions.

The organisers say the city tour will provide participants with an opportunity to explore the stories, people, culture, businesses and attractions shaping contemporary Ado-Ekiti.

The Ùdìròkò Adventure Weekend reflects a growing interest in experiential tourism, where visitors do not simply observe destinations but actively participate in their landscapes, culture and communities.
